Mac Funamizu, an award winner for design concept at the Red Dot design competition, came up with a design for the future of mobile search called Looking Glass - a transparent tablet with complex integration of image identification, mapping, directions, calendar, virtual shopping, instant dictionary and search, and augmented reality among many other applications.

Flip & Tumble’s Squeezers are clever new salt and pepper holders that let you squeeze out as much or as little seasoning as you want. Give it a pinch, and a valve at the bottom opens up, releasing a stream of salt or pepper. The harder you squeeze, the more the valve opens, so you control how much seasoning sprinkles your plate and how quickly it gets there. When you release the pressure, the valve seals tightly.

Inspired Newton’s work in optics and color theory, media-arts company Wonwei teamed up with design studio Super Nature Design to create Prisma 1666, an interactive light installation consisting of 15 triangular crystal blocks, which refract and disperse projected colored lights. Visitors can use an iPad interface to change the rotation and angles of projected graphics, offering an opportunity, Wonwei writes, “to experiment with these elements like Isaac Newton did so many years before us.”
